One Year

Exactly one year ago, I thought up an idea for a novel.

It started with a question, with an outline.

The next day, I began to write.

Three months later, the book was complete.

A week after that, the first six chapters desperately needed to be written.

Again.

And again.

A month after that, I began to edit.

A month later, I sent it to two beta reads (and besties).

Then I revised.

And revised.

Three weeks later, I wrote a query.

And researched.

And sent a few queries.

Three weeks and phone calls and exciting contracts later, I signed with Best Agent Ever (Suzie).

Who loved the story and characters as much as I did.

We revised.

And edited.

And revised.

And made it the best it could possibly be.

A year ago, if you'd asked me if I would be here experiencing this, living one of my largest dreams, working with some incredible people . . . my brain would have quite possibly exploded.

I am so thankful. So, so incredibly thankful. The road to publishing is like a journey, but some of the best parts are the people and experiences and adventures you get to have along the way. I wouldn't trade it for anything else in the entire world.

That is kind of profound. I need to think on that.

  6. And again, I'm happy for you and this inspires me and my writing. When is your prime writing time? Besides the fact that I work full-time, I always write best at night. :)

  7. Aw I am so happy for you. No joke, you are a complete inspiration for me because my dream is to be a writer but sometimes I get a bit overwhelmed and doubtful (like many others I can imagine). But it's just so encouraging to read about other writers journeys and them realizing their dream.

And... I can't wait to read your book :)
